The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will host the Air Services Negotiation Conference (ICAN2012) organized by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in cooperation with the Civil Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) during the period 8 – 12 December 2012. It is a five days conference held at Hilton Hotel in Jeddah. Until the present date, 71 states confirmed their participation at the conference which is a record-breaking number for this event.
The conference will be preceded by the “International Civil Aviation Day” ceremony commemorated on 7 December 2012 corresponding to 23.01.1434 H. which will be held at Laylati Hall in Jeddah.
This year’s choice of the Kingdom as the host of the conference reflects its leading position on the international air transport level and sheds the light on the commitment of the Civil Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) to develop the air transport sector of the Kingdom and its contributions on the international level.
This conference is primarily organized due to the international trend of the civil aviation sector to consolidate the concept of the common international framework in order to keep up with the rapid developments. As well as, it is considered as an opportunity for the member states to carry out negotiations and talks at the same location hence saving time and expenses.
ICAO Air Services Negotiation Conference provides a central location for the participating countries to meet and carry out bilateral or multilateral negotiations and talks at the same location in order to discuss the topics related to air services.
